The FSSAI Hygiene Rating Scheme is an online initiative that assesses food establishments on their hygiene standards and compliance with food safety norms. Who can apply?

Eligible Food Businesses for Hygiene Rating Scheme:
  • Food Service Establishments (Hotels, Restaurants, Cafeterias, Dhabas, etc.)
  • Meat Retail Shops
  • Sweet Shops
  • Bakery Shops
  • Catering Services
  • Cloud Kitchens & Food Delivery Units
  • Food Courts & Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs)
  • Institutional Canteens (Schools, Colleges, Offices)

How to get Hygiene rated?

Requirements for Hygiene Rating Scheme:
  • Hold a valid license or registration from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India
  • Comply with Schedule 4 hygiene and safety standards
  • Display Food Safety Display Boards (FSDBs) at the premises
  • Appoint trained Food Safety Supervisors under the FoSTaC program
  • Conduct regular testing of food and water samples (applicable for licensed FBOs)
